Everybody Keep Calm (2013)
IN THE COMPOSER’S OWN WORDS
“Beginning in 2013, I began to compose more open-form instrumental works with undefined instrumentation. Everybody Keep Calm is one of the first pieces in this genre that I made. It has cells of composed music interspersed with periods of open improvisation based on give chords. It’s a simple idea to understand but complex to play well. The original instrumentation was piano, vibraphone and violin when I composed it for the Rétes Collaboration Series at Spectrum NYC.”
