4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
The Cell Theater
New York, NY
I’m thrilled to be joining Mary Rowell performing music by some of my favorite composers, which happen to be some of her favorites too. Here’s what she wrote about the concert.
“For this concert I have invited Ashley Bathgate, cello; Eleonor Sandresky, piano; and Andrew Sterman, winds, to join me in celebrating the music of some of my favorite composers. We’ll start with Annie Gosfield‘s Cranks and Cactus Needles. Andrew will perform The Garden of Love by good friend Jacob TV. Eleonor Sandresky plays Shattered Apparitions of the West Wind, also by Annie Gosfield, and Ashley Bathgate will play Andrew Norman‘s For Ashley from the Bach Unwound series. The program continues with a quartet version of Basquiat by Don Byron, Improvisation (a duo for clarinet and cello) by Tony Scott, and the world premiere of Taffrail for violin and piano by TNM artistic/executive director Preston Stahly. Last but not least, we’ll present this year’s TNM Young Composer Competition winner Grant Luhmann as I perform the NYC premiere of his beautiful violin and soundtrack piece Arborea.
Let’s Celebrate!” –M.R.
